What we store, who can access it, and how to keep your work off our servers if you'd rather.
What we store. Signing in saves your projects and calculations to a managed Postgres database (Supabase). The fields we keep are: project name, project number, location, client, submittal date, notes, calculation inputs and outputs, and your user profile (engineer name, PE number, firm name — all optional).
Who can see it. Row-level security policies in the database keep your work invisible to other users. Vertlyn, as the operator of the database, retains administrative access for support, debugging, and abuse response only. We do not sell, share, or analyze your project data, and we will not access individual records except when necessary to resolve a support request you've raised. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
Third-party services we rely on. Running the app means a few vetted providers process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (application hosting), and Fly.io (PDF rendering). When billing launches, Stripe will handle payments — we never see or store your full card details. The optional AI draft feature uses Anthropic, described next.
AI narrative drafting.The calculations manual builder has an optional “Generate draft” feature. Only when you invoke it, the information you provide for that draft — your questionnaire answers, the project details, the saved calculations you include, and the PDFs you select — is sent to Anthropic’s API to produce the draft text. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. Nothing is sent unless you press Generate; if you never use the feature, none of your data reaches Anthropic. Always review an AI draft before relying on it.
If you'd rather not store anything on our servers. Stay signed out and use the app in browser-only mode. Your projects, inputs, results, and snippets all live in your browser's local storage — they never leave your device. PDFs still export. The trade-off: nothing syncs across devices, and clearing your browser data clears your work.
Account deletion. Email privacy@vertlyn.com and we'll delete your account and all associated rows within 14 days.
